Running coaching for all.  With a particular focus on supporting you through your whole journey and process.

Personal Training for all. This can either be one-to-one or together with a small group of friends.

Whatever your starting point or re-starting point, we at Project Run SC aim to support that journey.

Sophie Carter is a running coach and personal trainer with over 13 years post qualification experience and over 20 years of competitive running expertise from 5 to 100 km.  As one of the UK’s leading Elite ultra athletes, Sophie has won a large number of races as well as competed for England in 100 km three times so far (twice 2nd in GB Champs), with goals to compete further.

Sophie is also a mother of five (3 under 3, including a set of boy/girl twins) and has run through all of her pregnancies.

Sophie has a qualification in pre- and post-natal exercise and has experienced running and getting back to running through her own pregnancies. She has also taught years of post-natal exercise.

Whilst pregnant in 2022, Sophie has run two 100 km races, finishing 2nd lady in 2022 'Race to the Stones' at twenty weeks pregnant!

If anyone can help you achieve your goals, whether you’re a pregnant woman or not, she is the one!

Whether you’re young, old, ran before, never ran before, Sophie has an open mind and a plethora of experience to help get you on your journey to reach your goals.

Sophie is also supported by a UK Athletics coach with a wealth of running experience, from track racing to road marathons.

Do I Need a Run Coach?

- Online Coaching -

All online coaching will involve a two-way process of communication.  You play a vital role in achieving your goals.  We cannot do the work for you… that's your part.  However, we can provide you with the necessary tools and support and accountability.  Remember, this is not a generic training programme like those available in magazines, or online.  This is a tailored training programme that is designed specifically for you against your agreed goals that is adaptable with time and progression.  If you miss any time training, then that’s where we as your coach know where you need to pick up your training in order to stay on track and not get injured.

- Strength & Conditioning -

Running strong may involve a period of strength and conditioning to improve your body’s ability to run faster and longer and remain injury free.

With your training, you will be given recommended exercises that compliment your running programme.  Strength and conditioning is even more important if any injuries occur and we can work with you to limit any downtime from being on track with your goals.

- Mental Preparation -

We all have physical and mental strength.  Part of the journey to success is how you think and feel about yourself.  Sophie has been through a number of life events, divorce, single parenthood, death of parents, miscarriages and injury setbacks.  If life events happen, or you have a lack of confidence or self belief, Sophie will help you stay on track with your goals and strengthen your mind and body.

- Race Day Preparation -

We can provide support and advice for race crewing and nutrition.

My coaching package is accessible through Final Surge, a free to use platform for athletes to stay in close contact with their Coach.  This includes access where needed to video strength and conditioning workouts and session workouts.

- Project Run SC Mentorship Program -

£150 for initial 3 months, then £50 per month.

This plan includes:

  • Initial video/phone call or email consultation to set your goals, discuss training history and to understand your running strengths and weaknesses.
  • Adaptive weekly training plan, tailored specifically for you against agreed set goals and targets.
  • Coach review completed weekly to ensure progression is as expected and agreed, as required.
  • Daily messages covering all aspects of running, from strength training to recovery and injury prevention, as required.
  • Weekly catch-up call to review progress, discuss challenges and plan ahead, as required.
  • Bespoke structured workouts created to download to your fitness device (Garmin, Healthfit and others).
  • Online access to training plan via Final Surge tracking app (free use for athletes).
  • Online access to strength training videos and workouts within the coaching area on Final Surge tracking app.
  • Online access to yoga strength and stretch training videos and workouts within the coaching area on Final Surge tracking app.
  • Membership to our coaching area on Final Surge tracking app with access to video training guides, Coach tip videos, race day support help and more.
  • Moral support when you need it most!

Personal Training

Here at Project Run SC, we recognise that not everyone is able to or wants to run.  Many of us simply want to do some exercise to help feel a little fitter, maybe lose weight, or just generally feel better about ourselves. Some of us want to exercise alone with a PT and others feel more comfort of being with a close friend, or group of friends to share that journey. Whatever your need, there is a path for you here at Project Run SC.

Everyone is individual, and that's exactly how we approach your PT sessions to ensure that you get the best from training to target your agreed goals; whatever they may be.
